those are just haters, i have gone to the moderno many times and i had never a complain with the food. the only complain i could imagine maybe is the service bcse sometimes it is so crowed that they take a lil longer but it is about it. moderno keep up w the awesome food!!!

The closest place I know of is Atlas Cafe at Grand and Havemeyer. Last time I used it was June 2008, so I don’t know the current status, but it worked then. Decent amount of tables also.

I was meetng a friend at Nana and was waiting at the bar. I watched the bartender mix a really nice looking martini drink and he made twice as much as he should have so he offered me a drink I’d never heard of..it was a Thaitini. WOW!!! I’ve been introducing them to everyone I know now…they all LOVE it! Thanks to Nana for GREAT drinks and GREAT food!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll check out those two (although, being on Graham, they still don’t quite satisfy my lazy desire to sit somewhere closer to home).

I know what you mean about too many laptops being a problem… it’s just that it’s so, so nice to be one of the people using them. There’s something so motivational about being surrounded by presumably like-minded people, or at least people who look like they’re doing something creative.

I hope Second Stop doesn’t offer wi-fi. The place is tiny, even smaller than gimme. And wireless access doesn’t need to be everywhere. A sea of laptops can really kill the life of a shop.

But for your request, try Variety Coffee on Graham (at Conselyea). Their coffee is really good (on par with Gimme and Oslo), they have an excess of outlets, and even stay open relatively late (9pm). There’s also Phoebes Cafe (Graham at Devoe), which is under new ownership.

Yeah, unfortunately, I kind of agree about the food at least. The pictures I have above look nothing like the anemic sandwiches you get there nowadays. I've never bothered giving their coffee a second chance, either.

That said, I went there for brunch a few weeks back, and it was packed like I'd never seen it before.

I've never had a problem with the service, though.

I think this place was good at first but has gone way downhill….I do not reccommend this to anyone anymore!!!Stay away. Bad food and bad service!
