Wasabi SushiSelling acceptably good sushi, Wasabi’s edge over local competitors is offering delivery. The inventiveness of the food is on par with the (lack of) inventiveness of the restaurant’s name. Higher quality sushi for similar prices is available nearby at places such as Planet Thailand and Miyako, but without delivery options, Wasabi remains the best local choice for satisfying lazy sushi cravings.

Food Recommendations

  • Salmon Dinner This is frequently the best-tasting option on the menu; 7 two-bite pieces of salmon nigiri sushi and a 6-piece salmon roll. It does leave you wanting more, but when the salmon is fresh, this is a wonderful part of a larger dinner.
  • Spicy Tuna Roll Spicy, and doesn’t taste like the spice is being used to cover up bad fish, but instead just to add deliciousness.

Avoid

  • Tako Hand Roll The hand rolls are fairly small in general, and the octopus in particular isn’t reliably very good.
  • Dragon Roll Not as impressive as most Dragon Rolls you get (and only 5 pieces), the crab stick used in this roll degrades the quality a great deal.

Tips

  • Wasabi seems to have scaled down the size on their miso soups lately by about half, which is depressing to discover on a dreary night when seeking the perfect prescription for allergies and a cold: hot miso soup.
