Nana's Sushi & Sashimi Platter

This Saturday marked a long-awaited return to Park Slope’s Nana. One of my favorite restaurants in the city, Nana’s modern, funky decor is matched by its inventive Japanese & fusion meals. During the summer, their garden is open for dining, and its attractive lighting and small waterfall create a relaxing, friendly atmosphere. There’s a DJ spinning during some dinners, keeping Nana’s hipness quotient going strong.

Park Slope’s Fifth Ave
Sunday, June 19th, 2005

After a weekend trip down to Park Slope’s 5th Ave, I was reminded of just how much I loved living off 5th Avenue a few years back. Here’s a brief overview of some old and new favorites, heading south from 5th & Atlantic:

Convivium Osteria 68 5th Ave 718.857.1833 Portuguese/Spanish Dark and authentic, one friend of mine really loves this place.
Chocolate Room 86 5th Ave 718.783.2900 Dessert Focused exclusively on chocolate, the brownie sundae is awesome, and the chocolate flan is intense without erring on the side of too sweet or too bitter.
Los Pollitos II 148 5th Ave 718.623.9152 Mexican Cheap and very good, Los Pollitos brunch holds a special joy for me.
Nana 155 5th Ave 718.230.3749 Japanese / Fusion A bit on the expensive side, but Nana is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Williamsburger Review
Long Tan 196 5th Ave 718.622.8444 Thai Reasonably priced. I used to call for delivery from my apartment a few hundred feet away.
Moutarde 239 5th Ave 718.623.3600 French Although a bit pricey, and you’re paying extra for the bistro atmosphere, I really like the hanger steak with frites.
Al Di La 248 5th Ave 718.783.4565 Italian Al Di La looks delicious, and I’ve only heard good things, but I’ve never been able to get a table without an hour-plus wait, so I’ve never actually eaten there.
Bonnie’s Grill 278 5th Ave 718.369.9527 American The catfish burger with fries drizzled with chipotle mayo is mouth-wateringly good.
Chip Shop 383 5th Ave 718.832.7701 British Fish & chips, curries, and fried desserts. Williamsburger Review
Roomba 4100

iRobot Roomba 4100 Intelligent Floorvac Robotic Vacuum, Red The Roomba does a very good job fulfilling its hype. As an affordable vacuum cleaner ($150 or less for this model, and Amazon frequently has a $25 gift certificate deal going on it), the amount of effort saved by running this in a small apartment is shocking.

Little Havana Restaurant
Monday, June 6th, 2005
Little Havana Restaurant At Havana, a friendly Cuban brunch spot in the West Village, a great way to kick off the day is with their Carribean breakfast. The triple threat of eggs, sausage, and plantains, topped off with Sangria and coffee, satisfies all the Sunday morning food needs. I believe the restaurant is also open for regular lunch / dinner hours, but I’ve never been there outside of the brunch rush.
